Small format mask mbuya jia mukanda of the people of the eastern Pende / Pende Kasai, D. R. Congo
Mask with remnants of white painting in triangular shape with tubular eyes and jagged cheek ornamentation. The small format of the mask indicates its use as a passport mask, but could also be worn in front of the face without completely covering the wearer#39;s face. These masks were used on the occasion of the circumcision of boys and their initiation.
